A visit to the restored town of New Harmony, Indiana in 1975 inspired Sonia P. “Sunny” Seherr-Thoss and her husband Hans C. “Boisie” Seherr-Thoss to organize other like-mined preservationists to establish the Greater Litchfield Preservation Trust, Inc. (hereinafter, the “Trust”).  The Trust’s mission is to rescue at-risk historic properties in Litchfield, Connecticut.  As this site will demonstrate the Trust has energetically pursued that mission in the intervening decades.

The Trust was formed on July 2, 1975 as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation such that donations are recognized as charitable contributions.  A donation of $10 confers membership in the Trust and entitles members to vote at the Trust’s Annual Meeting.  I encourage anyone sharing an interest in historic preservation to join the Trust.
